Some might say Celtic battled to a draw on Thursday night , but if truth be told it was Ajax whom had to come from behind twice in the match to get a 2-2 draw , I was very impressed with what I saw the other night , the manager and the team had taken a battering by the media and fans on social media yet they came through the game against the Erividise leaders fairly unscathed , Ronald de boars comments about Celtic parking the bus were crass and unprofessional and you’d expect nothing else from a former rangers 1873-2012 player..he was quoted as saying …..
De Boer wryly remarked that Celtic "parked two buses" as he lamented what he regarded as their negative approach to the game.
Amusing coming from a man who played in a very negative and boring rangers side whenever they played in Europe , the man doesn’t deserve airtime so il move on , the team played very well in a tough opening fixture with the likes of Commons and Biton singled out for praise both had a fantastic games and Commons proved his worth again while Biton I’ve championed since day one, with Molde shocking Fenerbahçe this group maybe has an unfamiliar look to it already , Celtic may have missed the chance to win the game but it’s a very positive start , the Turkish side are up next at parkhead and having lost their opener will be hungry to get points on the board , this could play into Celtics hands and could go s long way to deciding the final outcome of the group if Celtic can hand Fenerbahçe their second defeat in a row ….
FENERBAHCE'S Brazilian ace Diego is out of the Europa League clashwith Celtic next month. The Hoops will welcome the Turkish cracks to Glasgow for their second game in the competition, after their trip to face Ajax.
The 30-year-old attacking midfielder is expected to be out for at least three weeks and that will mean he's out of the Parkhead clash on October 1...
Celtic will have been happy to get some points on the board before the visit of the multi million pound spending Turks, having names such as Van Persie and Nani in their ranks should be proof enough the game will be tough , if Thursday’s game was an indication of Celtics intent they did not to badly ….
On the night Celtic played some neat stuff and when Commons linked up with Biton for the first goal it was a thing of beauty the young Israeli smashed a low shot into the corner of the Ajax net to silence the fervent home crowd , their young team looked a bit shocked but played well to get back into the game , at times you’d wonder why the national side are struggling so bad as the Dutch kids in their team are pretty decent fair, Celtic started new 5.5 million pound signing Simonivic and he had a pretty decent first outing …
"It was a very good game and I enjoyed it”, he told a press conference held this afternoon.“For me, it was another experience."A good experience and maybe we could have got all three points, but we had one player less at the end of the game and a draw was OK."
He was of course referring to iziguires red card the player felt he’d let the team down a bit and possibly could have avoided the punishment , but in the heat of the moment in big games things happen like this …..
Victor Fischer levelled the game for Ajax with a fine finish before Mikel Lustig powered in a terrific header before the half from a Commons corner to give the hoops and the travelling fans plenty to celebrate through the break , Celtic defended well in the second half and the new look defence was doing ok till the final 6 mins of the game when Ajax won a free kick outside the box schone took the kick which missed everyone and flew into the net , hard on Celtic but a draw away from home is ok , and the performance was good ….. Now we must build on this result going forward both domestically and in Europe ..
