CELTIC…4
(Commons 58, Griffiths 65,80, 85)

KILMARNOCK…1
(Westlake 50)

There can be little doubt that Leigh Griffiths starts the game on sunday against Inverness the hunger and desire he showed tonight against Kilmarnock with his 3 goals makes it a no brainer for Ronnie Deila, that’s 15 for the season and makes him the club’s top goalscorer ahead of John Guidetti on 14 ,the goals have been pretty spread out through the team this season so a lot of pressure has been taken of whoever has played up top ,when you have players like Commons and Johanson , Van Dyk and Denayer adding to the score sheet ,it gives the strikers a bit of help and they can focus on other aspects of their game….

One thing ive noticed about our frontline whoever it is that plays ,Guddetti,Stokes,or Griffiths is the pressing they do high up the pitch and they set a lot of stuff up,Guddetti and Griffith combined on several occasions tonight in the 30 mins they played together ,Guddetti played his part scoring a lot of goals at the start of the season whereas Griffith is finishing the season on good form ,both will now fight it out to see who tops the goalscoring chart for the club come end of may,one thing that’s for sure both have contributed immensely to the title push….

First half tonight was a bit of a dead duck ,Kilmarnock nullified most of what Celtic tried to do and there was very little for the crowd to get excited about, the weather was nice for a game of footy and probably the only highlight of their trip to parkhead in the first half was the brilliant response of the fans for the food bank collection outside the stadium,at least the second half would be more of a spectacle,Kilmarnock were ahead within 5 mins of the restart Darryl Westlake’s shot from distance deflected into the net of Denayer ,the Celtic faithful were stunned and the team seemed to take it very personally as the performance levels went up a few notches…

Chris Commons brilliant volley flying high into the net in a blink of an eye,at one point the commentators thought it was Brown who had scored as he followed through into the net to retrieve the ball ,but on reflection Commons was found to have struck the crucial equalizer,a few minutes later super sub Griffiths was introduced and within a short few mins he had celtic 2-1 ahead with a lovely little header at the back post,Celtic werent finished yet though Griffith well-known for liking a wee shot from outside the box lashed in a brilliant shot that went in of the foot of the post to make it 3-1…

On 80 mins, the team could have shut up shop then and settled for the points but Griffiths had other ideas as hatrick was on his mind in a few previous games he’s had 2 goals but the hatrick had eluded him not tonight his 3rd goal was expertly taken as he slid the ball past Salmson to make it 4-1 and make the finish line for this seasons title race come a bit closer 8 points clear now with 6 games to go ,the team require 11 points from the remaining games,a treble is a very real possibility with the Scottish cup semi final game on sunday our next hurdle ,with the form of Griffiths he could be the man to fire us into the final end of may ……………….
